Let's Face it For most families television, video games, and the internet are a part our lives. Yet, studies find that the violence in the media can slow our children’s functioning and increase violent behaviors. How can we raise healthy children in a world filled with television and video game violence? Did you know . . . .
* American children and adolescents spend 22 to 28 hours per week viewing television, more than any other activity except sleeping.
* Almost ¾ of all children have a TV in their bedroom and millions of teens spend time on social networking sites.
America’s colleges and universities are under attack from the gun lobby. Following mass shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Northern Illinois University in 2008 the gun lobby is pushing legislation that would prohibit colleges and universities from adopting policies that regulate firearms on campus.
NCGV is announcing our annual T-shirt contest! Designs can be submitted beginning August 11th, 2010 through October 15 2010. The theme this year will be “What does it mean to be nonviolent? What does peace look like?”
